ABOUT
Year: 1st, Major: Politics and International Relations
My Name is Muqthar Abedi and I am a first year student at Kings University College studying Political Science. I am extremely involved on campus, as I am a student ambassador, working for Kings Enrolment Services, and am apart of many clubs at King’s. I love sports and my dedication for working out and exercising converts to many other aspects of my life. My Slogan is “Muq Means More” because I want to bring better and more resources to King’s campus, and also ensure proper representation for King’s at USC. In the future I want to go into law, this opportunity to represent you all would help me achieve my goals in the future. Thank you so much for your support!
Three Pillars:
My first pillar is accessibility, and accessibility is important to me as having a convenient and easy access for each student is extremely vital at Kings University, no matter who you are. My role will help accomplish this, as I not only have power in voting, but ensuring problems are highlighted at USC is just as important
My second pillar is advocacy, and this is important as people being able to voice their opinions around Kings University. Advocacy is extremely important as people being able to advocate their issues anywhere at Kings is vital to building a strong community. This impacts my role, as representing the student body requires me to be able to hear what people need improvement on.
My third pillar is wellness, and wellness is connected to both of my previous pillars as wellness as a community involves accessibility and advocacy. Also as a member of Kings University, it is important to understand that wellness ensures a positive experience at Kings University. As a representative, it is important to ensure the wellness of students at Kings, by speaking up at USC for the issues that Kings students face.
Notable Goals:
Some notable goals I wish to accomplish during the course of my position include proper representation of Kings Students at USC, alongside giving students a platform to speak on their issues at Kings University, as issues they may face may not be understandable to me unless directly told to me. I plan to do this by not only encouraging students to speak to me as this forms a great community, but also potentially create a Microsoft form where students can express their emotions on how they feel about the needed improvements at Kings. I also want to make this form unanimous, so that there are no biases against who is speaking on the issue.
Term Commitments
Some commitments that I want to uphold during the course of my position is highlighting each resource that Kings University has, through the already grown platform of KUCSC. Another major commitment I want to highlight during my campaign is how dedicated I will be to ensure that Kings university has proper representation at USC. People have described me as a hard working guy that advocates when things are not equal to everyone within a community. Rick helped me with understanding this role, and told me that “be the nice guy until you don’t have to be”, which is a commitment to my second pillar, which is advocacy.
