RELAY FOR LIFE

Relay for Life is a 12-hour event run by the Canadian Cancer Society, dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, and to better the lives of those affected by cancer.

When & where is the event?

Saturday, March 8 - Sunday, March 9, 2025 in the Darryl J. King Student Life Centre.

Who can participate?

Anyone and everyone! Friends, families, colleagues, teachers, students… anyone can come to Relay. Affiliate students attending either King’s or Huron can apply to be a committee member:

How do I register?

  1. Go to the Relay for Life - Canadian Cancer Society website.

  2. Click “Find an Event”, and search for “Relay for Life at King’s with Huron 2025.”

  3. Sign up by either creating your own team or joining an existing one!

Committees

    • Entertainment Committee

      • The Entertainment Committee plans and coordinates entertainment performances and activities for the Relay event, with committee heads having the opportunity to serve as event emcees.

    • Fundraising Committee

      • The Fundraising Committee supports fundraising efforts by providing ideas and organizing school-wide campaigns to achieve individual and event fundraising goals.

    • Promotion Committee

      • The Promotion Committee creates informational posts to engage team members and volunteers, promotes activities related to Relay for Life, and raises awareness about the event and the Canadian Cancer Society.

    • Ceremonies Committee

      • The Ceremonies Committee plans and executes the Opening Ceremony, Survivor Lap, Luminary Ceremony, and Closing Ceremony, coordinates Luminary sales, and communicates with survivors to participate in the event.

    • Finance and Logistics Committee

      • The Finance and Logistics Committee provides materials, coordinates deliveries and pickups, and manages all financial activities including tracking funds and handling accounting for donations, sales, and fees.

    • Registration Committee

      • The Registration Committee organizes participants, collects sign-up forms and fees, and ensures smooth event-day registration and participation for teams, volunteers, and survivors.

    • Sponsorship Committee

      • The Sponsorship Committee solicits donations from local businesses and community members, collaborates with the committee to determine event needs, and secures sponsorships for meals and prizes.
