Food Locker

The Food Locker is a food service managed by KUCSC in collaboration with King’s Student Affairs and Campus Ministry. The purpose of the Food Locker system is to help alleviate food insecurity among university students.

How it Works

Students can access the service by submitting a confidential form to the VPSA. After submitting the form, a hamper is packed according to the student’s needs and available stock, then placed in a locker in W022, located in the basement of Wemple near the Cafeteria. The student is notified and provided with a locker pin to pick up their hamper at their convenience.

Disclaimer

Hampers are not standardized, and differ, depending on stock in the Food Locker. Students accessing the service are encouraged to access additional food resources in the area, as the Food Locker exists to act complimentary to other food resources.

Donations

We accept non-perishable food items appropriate for food banks (see https://www.londonfoodbank.ca/donate-food for examples). Donations can be arranged by booking with the VPSA or placing items in the hamper at Christ the King Chapel (W149C). Watch for our donation campaigns throughout the year for a chance to win prizes!

Students using this service are encouraged to contact Joanna Bedggood, Manager of Student Wellness, for further support from the University and City. Additional support is also available through the University Students’ Council Food Support Services.
