ABOUT
Year: 4th, Major: Honour’s Double Major in French Language and Literature & Social and Political Thought & Certificate in Law and Public Policy
Hey King’s! My name is Braedan, a fourth year in French and Philosophy at King’s and I’m running to be your KUCSC President.
In my time at King’s I have gotten involved in every way I can. I started out as VP Comms in my first year, was a Faculty Representative, a KAMP Mentor, a club president, and presently work as the Executive Assistant to our current President. I am also the incoming Senator to the Affiliated Colleges at the Western Senate.
This involvement has led me to have my finger on the pulse of your issues as King’s students and positioned me well to advocate for them.
I want to build a council that empowers you and a community which reflects the student-centric campus we know.
Three Pillars:
a. Integration and Advocacy: With my position on the USC combined with my present role as Affiliate Senator, I will ensure that every chamber of government not only at King’s, but at Western has an affiliate representative among their members.
b. Rebuilding Community: As it was a goal of the previous council, I will work to increase KUCSC presence in the larger campus community. Working alongside our CCO and VPSE, I want to ensure people continue to know their executives and their representatives.
c. A KUCSC for you: I will work to revitalize KUCSC as a tool not only for student advocacy, but for student opportunity and empowerment. I will review opportunities for students to be relevant to their current student experience and work hard to make sure every student feels like they have a tangible impact on council.
Notable Goals:
a. Development of a KUCSC roadmap for executive goals and accomplishments to be posted on the KUCSC website.
b. Increased programming for student appreciation events.
c. Increased support for King’s and affiliates sophs for O-Week and at the USC.
d. Bringing knowledge to King’s students – promotion of studentrelevant support fairs on King’s campus or transparency of USC events.
Term Commitments
a. Implementation of recommendations found by King’s Transit and Transportation Survey
b. Continued advocacy for King’s food service and recommendations of internal RFP committee.
c. Internal review of TOR for council portfolios – create opportunities that make sense for students.
d. Improvement of the Western Meal Plan and its expansion for affiliate students.
e. Increased executive casual presence on campus – people should continue to know who the president is.
f. Increased transparency for internal and intracouncil affairs. g. Increased general knowledge of correct venues of advocacy, complaint, and support for students.
h. Review MOUs with organizations with council.
i. Ensure inter-portfolio communication, cohesion, and efficiency.
